Groups

We currently offer a variety of groups at AAHC.

These groups, focused on mindfulness and distress tolerance, will include: three teen groups (two of which are animal-assisted), one adult group, and one adult yoga group. Each group provides a unique opportunity for clients; we’d love for you to join us.

The teen mindfulness group is unique in the fact that it consists of three different subgroups: canine-assisted, equine-assisted, and regular mindfulness without an animal. These various groups each offer a unique twist to mindfulness and distress tolerance:

Canine-Assisted Mindfulness Group for Teens

This group will take place Thursdays from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Utah Healing Center. KayLee Taylor, CSW, and Carly Parsons, MSW student, will be co-facilitating this group. Flower, our Canine Companions for Independence Facility Dog, as well as her canine specialist, Dr. Janelle Nimer, will be taking part in the group.

Equine-Assisted Mindfulness Group for Teens

This group will take place on Saturdays from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Sunset Equestrian Center in Kaysville.  Janelle Nimer, PhD, LCSW, and Sami Marchand, MSW Student, will be co-facilitating the group. Majestic, an equine-assisted therapy horse, as well as equine specialist, Tasha Marshall, CSW, will be taking part in the group.

Regular Mindfulness Group for Teens (no animal)

This group will take place on Saturdays from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and will be co-facilitated by Mary Coombs, CSW, and Kimberly Sager, MSW Student.
